Accuracy

With Hirst products, you can expect excellent reliability and accuracy. For more details of what the GM08 is capable of, please check the Technical Specification Tab on this page.

During manufacture, the accuracy of nuclear magnetic resonance is used to determine the irregularities and non conformities of the GMO7 and GMO8 with the Hall Probe. This is stored and used mathematically to automatically correct readings taken by the GMO7 and GMO8. This enables very linear and accurate measurements to be obtained. Every GM07 and GM08 comes with a certificate of calibration valid for one year.

Software 

The software comes as standard on a CD with your Gauss Meter pack. It can also be downloaded (LINK TO DOWNLOAD). The software is compatible with Windows. This allows the user to control the Gauss Meter remotely, export measurements and stored data via USB or RS232 interfaces. Data can be exported to Excel or OpenOffice spreadsheets or to a CSV format file. Drivers for Labview are available to download here (LINK TO DOWNLOAD).

GM08 Features 

Unit Conversion – Measurements can be taken in any of the magnetic units. Saved and Held readings can be automatically converted between measurement units.

Remote PC control – The GM08 offers the unique ability to remote -control the Gauss Meter through a PC via USB or RS232

Non-Volatile memory – Any settings and recorded measurements are automatically stored so that every time you switch the Gauss Meter on, it’s ready to use for your specific requirements.

Holding and Storing measurements – a unique feature on the GM07 and GM08 allows users to HOLD or STORE measured values. Users can set the hold or store functions in GM08 menu and press the conveniently situated button on the Hall probe to capture the reading without looking away from the area of concentration. In the STORE setting, The GM08 can record up to 100 measurements. These values can later be RECALLED, either on the Gauss Meter or via USB/RS232 with the GM08.

Easy reports - The GM08 has the added advantage of storing and uploading not only the measured values, polarity, measurement units and measurement function, but also the time at which the measurement was taken. Data can easily be downloaded to excel, open office spreadsheets, or to a CSV format file, taking the hassle out of creating records.

Battery save – The operator can disable or select various times for the automatic POWER DOWN. Power downs always give warnings so they can be stopped.

Zeroing – When the Gauss Meter needs to be zeroed, a zero flux chamber and instructions are provided for easy nulling. Two simple routines can reset the Gauss Meter reading to zero or relative zero to the range you are on.

All that is required to ensure the continued accuracy of  the GM08 is an annual calibration with Hirst. Other manufacturers and calibrators do not have the facility to fully reset the Gauss Meter. A re-calibration will provide users with the 12 month calibration certificate and assurance that readings are within +/- 0.5% accuracy for a further 12 months.
